Many thought the San Francisco 49er’s were selecting an insurance policy for All-Pro starter Frank Gore, when they selected Glen Coffeein the third round of the 2009 draft, but little did they know they might have found the NFL’s hottest running back prospect. Glen Coffee was arguably the most impressive rookie in this year’s preseason. He exhibited the unique combination of speed and power while carrying the load of the 49er’s running game. Will Glen Coffee take the starter’s job from Frank Gore this season and next? No. But you can expect to see him get plenty of time this season and beyond as he learns the NFL game and develops his game into a potential All-Pro RB.

I think this is a perfect time to load up on quality pieces as Coffee fulfills the backup role to Frank Gore this season. His cards will be in demand as most hard-core collectors can see the immense potential Coffee has. But while most collectors will continue to chase the glamour names of the draft (Sanchez, Stafford, Beanie Wells, Knowshon Moreno) I think there is an exciting opportunity to find quality pieces on the cheap. Load up on Glen Coffee cards while they are still affordable - they probably won’t stay that way for long.
