More fun than the game

7 February 2009 No Comment

While most football fans agree that the Pro Bowl isn’t exactly the most exciting game of the NFL season, it is still a very popular way to say goodbye to another exciting NFL season.  Most football fans could care less about the final score, but they do want to see their favorite players compete against the best of the best and put on a competitive game.   I personally enjoy the Pro Bowl and hope that the NFL continues to play this game for many more years.

I also enjoy the annual Pro Bowl subset that Topps issues in their football releases.  Normally I am not big on event worn jersey cards, but since the Pro Bowl is a unique event, it makes sense that a player would want to keep a special jersey, like their game used, Pro Bowl jersey, making it difficult for the manufacturers to obtain the actually game used jersey.

Pro Bowl Relic cards are a very affordable way to collect the game’s best players and a great way to remind collectors of some the season’s best performances by lesser known players.  Most current and past season Pro Bowl cards can be bought for under 5 dollars with little or no competition at auction on eBay.   That could change if the NFL decides to do away with Pro Bowl.  The sentimental side of football card collectors would take over and drive prices significantly higher.

Enjoy the game, because it’s a long time till training camp.
